So on the day of my grand debut book release, I putzed around the house, sent out a little reader update, watched a couple Halloween movies with the Mrs., and went to bed feeling kinda blah.

But enough whining! MY BOOK CAME OUT! (*CONFETTI BLASTS AND MARCHING BAND*) THE BOOK IS OUT. IT IS DONE. I COMPLETED THE THING. I GAVE BIRTH TO MY LITTLE STRANGE BRAIN BABY AND IT IS NOW FROLICKING IN THE WILDERNESS.
....Now what? Well, for starters:
1) I really should contact some indie bookstores and start sweet-talking my way onto their shelves.
2) I need to research how to build a cheap mini sound booth at home so I can start recording an audiobook version of Dax.
3) I should definitely keep outlining Dax 2 and get that out into the world in a timely fashion. (I hear the best marketing for your first book is your second)
I even signed up for NaNoWriMo with the encouragement of my fellow author buddies. It's November 7th, and I've written precisely jack shit (except this blog post), so it's going about as well as I expected.
I need to recharge my creative batteries. Catch up with some reading, maybe watch Stranger Things before the internet spoils it for me, and get some fresh air and sunshine with the lady. Actually, we're both the cloudy, rainy weather type, so here's hoping southern California makes with the damn fall weather soon.

Speaking of the wife, we celebrated our 3rd anniversary last week! (Audience "awws") We're also working on a super secret project together which should be revealed soon. I also updated the Dax website and even (gasp!) started working out again. Trust me, that shit's important. Especially for those of us hunched over a computer day after day.
So in declaring my intent to get started on Dax 2, I did just about everything BUT get started on Dax 2. But that's okay. It'll come. I'm just not the "write a book in a month" type. I'm more the "think about writing as I catch up on movies, TV, videogames, read other books, spend time with the wife, clean the apartment, and eventually start writing when my subconscious guilt finally beats me into submission" ...type.
I did catch a great Steven Spielberg documentary on HBO this morning, which reminded me why I followed through with this book in the first place. Seriously, check it out if you love movies and storytelling. It aired a month ago, but it's available on demand.
If you didn't catch my previous update via the Inkshares mailing list, there are two DAX HARRISON book signing events coming in December! If you find yourself in the southern California area, check 'em out!
Orange County: On Saturday, December 2nd, I’ll be signing books at Barnes & Noble Fullerton! I’ll be starting around 9AM and hanging out through the morning hours. (Or until they say "TAKE A HIKE, YOU BUM!") Come say hi, bring your book, or grab one in-store and I’ll sign it!

San Diego: On Saturday, December 9th, I’ll be at Mysterious Galaxy bookstore in San Diego! They’re throwing a holiday party with a collection of authors (including me) chatting about their books. Have some refreshments, watch me make a fool of myself with a microphone, and get your book signed! Begins at 2PM.

And that, good people, is all for this post.
